She holds a number of core positions in various national and international organizations, such as the committee member of WEC (2012-2016), senior researcher of APERC (2007-2008). She is now the chief expert at the Research Advisory Base of Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) (2014-); Chair of Expert Committee of Belt and Road Energy Cooperation Network, NEA (2018-); the standing committee member of Chinese Petroleum Economic Professional Committee (2014-); secretary-in-general and vice president of Renewable Energy Professional Committee of China Energy Research Society (2017-); the senior researcher of Development Research Center of the State Council, China (2015-); honorary professor of Xinjiang University (2012-); the member of editorial board of International Petroleum Economics (2014-). She is the founder of China International Energy Cooperation Forum (CIEC Forum) since 2011 and the Dean of National Academy of Belt and Road Green Development, China International Culture Exchange Center (2019-). Professor Xu has hosted more than 30 projects, including numerous high-level national social science and international projects. Her research report received a global prize in 2009.
