Dr. Di is Professor and Associate Dean of the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China. He specializes in world economy and international political economy. Additionally, Dr. Di serves as a Distinguished Research Fellow at the International Monetary Institute of Renmin University of China, and the vice chairman of National Association of Emerging Economy Studies.

Dr. Di's academic Career began with a Ph.D. in International Relations from Renmin University of China in 2004, following his completion of a M.A. and B.A. at the same institution. He has been affiliated with Renmin University since 2004 and has made significant contributions to the institution.

Dr. Di worked as a visiting scholar at Science Po Paris in France in 2001, and further expanded his international experience as a visiting scholar at Durham University in the UK in 2003. Additionally, he taught as a part-time teacher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Boston University Brussels (BU-Brussels-Campus) during 2005-2006. In 2015, he was invited to Georgetown University as a visiting scholar, where he delivered lectures on China's reform and economy at prestigious institutions including the US Department of State, Wall Street Hedge Fund, University of Chicago, and Chicago Stevenson Center.

Policy advice and international second-track dialogues

Dr. Di Dongsheng is frequently invited to attend the seminars, projects and international visits organized by various ministries, making contributions to China’s foreign economic policy and second-track dialogues. Internationally, Mr. Di Dongsheng has maintained in-depth academic exchanges and extensive contacts with think-tanks in the United States, Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia, thus contributing to the second-track exchanges of China’s foreign economic policy and foreign policy.

Since 1999, Dr. Di has authored dozens of academic papers in both Chinese and English, published in China, Europe, Russia, Latin America and East Asia. And his newly-published books includes China’s Bold Future—The Stratgic potentials of Its Foreign Economic Relations (in Chinese), The Power of Money:Relations among Politics, The Market and the People (in Chinese) and The Power of Currencies and Currencies of Power (in both Chinese and English). And other manuscripts such as ‘Sanctions and Economic warfare’ (in Chinese) are to be published soon.

Teaching Achievements

Due to his achievements in the innovation of postgraduate teaching, Dr. Di Dongsheng won the second prize of Beijing Teaching Excellence Award. In the anonymous teaching appraisal at Renmin University of China, his score remained among the few highest. Since 2005, the percentage of School-level and University-level excellent master dissertations he has supervised has been much higher than the average.

Dr. Di Dongsheng’s lectures are highly regarded for their depth, humor, and engaging style. His unique perspective and creative knowledge base captivate not only the students at Renmin University of China but also attract attention from government and business professionals. The appreciation for his teaching extends beyond the university, making him a popular lecturer in various fields.
